Understanding Our Sanitary Practices

Amidst the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, Alpha School of Massage has decided to close its doors, thus adhering to the recommendations issued by local, state, and federal authorities.

That being said, we want to assure all of our clients that, regardless of the state of public health, we are always committed to performing the best sanitary practices possible. After all, the health of both our staff and clients is always our first priority, and we believe the best way to keep you both happy and healthy is to foster an environment that is consistently clean.

Please read below to learn more about our standard sanitary precautions:

Preventing Disease Transmission

Regardless of whether a client has or is suspected to have a transmittable disease, our staff always adheres to a series of practices that mitigates the spread of bacteria or viruses.

Particularly as transmission may occur via blood, body fluids, mucous membranes, rashes, and more, how we make contact with a client — and how we sanitize after making contact — is performed thoughtfully and routinely.

Not only do we follow the guidelines of the CDC, such as recommending proper vaccines to mitigate the spread of vaccine-preventable diseases, but we also practice hand hygiene (see below), use personal protective equipment (PPE) when necessary, and regularly disinfect all surfaces and materials that are involved in staff-to-client contact.

Hygiene Starts With The Hands

Hand washing is not only a necessary reality of our daily lives, but it is an absolute requirement for all staff members in our office. We also provide the best hand hygiene guidelines for our staff, recommending that they use soap and water extending up to the forearms and elbows.

We also outline a variety of situations wherein staff should wash their hands, including but not limited to:

  1. Both before and after they make direct contact with clients.

  2. After using the restroom.

  3. After touching or feeding animals or their waste.

  4. After they handle contaminated items, including garbage.

  5. After blowing their nose, sneezing, or coughing.

Finally, not only should our therapists wash their hands both before and after a massage session, but also during their session, if necessary.

Objects, Surfaces, and Linens — Oh My!

Our staff members don’t just keep themselves clean and sanitary, but they also contribute to the cleanliness of the overall office space. Using disposable gloves and paper towels, they use cleaning products to wipe surfaces and regularly sanitize all otherwise shared spaces.

Once cleaning is complete, they will always remove and properly dispose of the gloves and paper towels prior to washing their hands again.

We also clean all massage tools, towels, tables, and more both before and after massages.

In total, we will always optimize and enhance our office to ensure all clients and staff members are safe, clean, and comfortable while on-site.
