As an owner of two massage and facial spas, I have read dozens of resumes and conducted many, many interviews with Facial and skincare professionals. Many of these prospects were fresh out of school. I love it when I read that they graduated from the Esthetics program at Alpha School of Massage. Too often I hear from prospects that they watched a video on chemical peels, or they watched their instructor do a microdermabrasion, but they never performed one themselves. They have some knowledge of the service, but I can’t trust them to do a service on a client without a lot of training. They have no hands-on experience. That isn’t true of Alpha students. Alpha students come to us with the knowledge and hands-on skills we need in a new team member. They know what they are doing. “They are ready to work.” I stole that from the staff at Alpha. It’s more than a tagline they add to their talking points, they prepare their graduates for the work they will be expected to do. Alpha students come into our spas having performed multiple chemical peels, microdermabrasions, several types of facials, including higher-end services, and have a great knowledge of our products. Many are even proficient in waxing services.
If you are looking for an esthetics program, make sure you find one that requires hands-on application of the things you will be learning You will be doing yourself and your future employer a favor.
